Oriental Medicine
Oriental medicine includes the use of diet, massage, breathing exercises, meditation, acupuncture, and herbal formulas to relieve pain, regulate physical function, and promote health.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture relieves pain and stimulates healing by applying massage, needles, or herbs to specific points that regulate the function of the internal organs. Pain relief and improved immune response are only some of the benefits from acupuncture therapy. Acute cases may respond in a few visits, whereas chronic problems may require longer courses of treatment. All needles are single use disposable only.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Our clinic staff custom formulates each prescription for the individual to provide optimum results in complex cases. Formulas are modified at each visit to ensure continued progress. We use only the highest quality, alcohol free, pharmaceutical grade extracts from GMP manufacturers.
In Practice
All types of pain conditions may be relieved by oriental medical therapies, including but not limited to back pain, sciatica, neck pain, shoulder stiffness, menstrual cramping, and acute and chronic athletic injuries. Symptoms related to viral, bacterial, and fungal infections may improve through the immune stimulation provided by acupuncture and custom made herbal formulas. Anxiety, depression, and stress-induced problems may also benefit.
MMVBS has provided acupuncture and chinese herbs to Studio City for over 25 years, and has seen over 100,000 patients from the Studio City area that we have treated.
Acupuncture: The practice of inserting needles into the body to reduce pain or induce anesthesia . More broadly, acupuncture is a family of procedures involving the stimulation of anatomical locations on or in the skin by a variety of techniques. There are a number of different approaches to diagnosis and treatment in American acupuncture that incorporate medical traditions from China, Japan, Korea, and other countries. The most thoroughly studied mechanism of stimulation of acupuncture points employs penetration of the skin by thin, solid, metallic needles, which are manipulated manually or by electrical stimulation.
